Supplier Support/Project Manager
General Summary:
- Serving as the primary technical focal point for company, the contractor will represent the company in interactions with the supplier, following their Detail Design engineering phase. Responsibilities include managing project deliverables and schedules, while guiding the overall system from initial definition through engineering design, testing, certification, and ensuring the completion and acceptance of all related deliverables. The contractor will collaborate directly with the supplier and company to identify documentation gaps and requirements for CDR compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Company is developing an aircraft in collaboration with multiple Design/Build suppliers responsible for interior systems and components. To ensure successful completion of the Critical Design Review (CDR) phase and Production Readiness Review (PRR) working with our Supplier Quality & Manufacturing teams, company seeks a contractor to provide support to a cabin interior supplier, assisting them in producing accurate, comprehensive, and compliant documentation required for CDR approval and in compliance with company Documentation.
Design Review Preparation
- Documentation: Ensure all necessary design documents, specifications, and drawings are prepared and up-to-date for review
- Compliance: Verify that designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and company requirements prior to being submitted to company.
Technical Assessment
- Design Evaluation: Conduct thorough evaluations of the preliminary and critical designs to identify any potential issues or risks
- Risk Management: Identify, document, and propose mitigation strategies for any technical risks associated with the design
Configuration Management
- Version Control: Maintain version control of all design documents and ensure that changes are tracked and communicated effectively
- Baseline Management: Establish and manage the product baseline during CDR
Coordination and Communication
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate communication between the supplier, client, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and address any concerns
- Meeting Facilitation: Organize and lead review meetings, ensuring that all relevant parties are involved and that feedback is documented and acted upon
Support for Presentations
- Presentation Materials: Assist in the preparation of presentation materials for CDR meetings, including slides, summaries, and technical details
- Review Summaries: Provide clear and concise summaries of review outcomes and action items
Compliance and Verification
- Standards Adherence: Ensure that all designs meet the necessary safety and performance standards
- Verification Plans: Develop and implement plans to verify that the design meets all specified requirements
Training and Support
- Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and support to the supplier’s team to help them understand and implement best practices in design and review processes
- Ongoing Support: Offer ongoing technical support throughout the CDR phases to address any emerging issues
Deliverables
- The contractor will be responsible for ensuring the completion and submission of CDR drawings and models to company technical as per company SOW for supplier.
- The contractor will be responsible for supporting completion of CDR milestones as defined by the company Master schedule
Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
- Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering from a four year college or university is required. (In lieu of degree, management may elect to consider individuals with a equivalent years of combined experience and training.)
- Masters’ degree in Engineering preferred.
- 8+ years of engineering experience with at least three years of design engineering experience directly related to mechanical/interior design for commercial aircraft.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of conceptual design development of aircraft interiors.
- Working knowledge of industry standard (i.e. - parts lists, bill of materials, parts and standards callout, etc).
- In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with 14CFR Part 23/25 specifically as it relates to the design, development, and certification of business aircraft interiors.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5
- Proficiency in Teamcenter (or equivalent PLM tool).
- Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels within an organization and present data clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work cross functionally with Quality and Production to resolve issues on the production line.
